Meet Our Knoxville Veterinarians
Matthew Brent
Dr. Matt Brent has been providing veterinary care for Knoxville’s pets since 2006. A graduate of the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Brent brings extensive experience in both general practice and emergency medicine. His broad skill set, compassionate approach, and commitment to client education make him a trusted Knoxville veterinarian for pets of all ages. He enjoys gardening – as you can see next to our clinic, playing soccer, and fishing.
Kara Brady
Dr. Kara Brady graduated from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine in 2023 and began her professional career here at West Hills Animal Hospital. Prior to attending vet school, she worked in shelter medicine and also as an assistant here at WHAH. Dr. Brady enjoys all aspects of small animal vetmed, including treating backyard farm animals. She provides compassionate, knowledgeable care for all our patients. She is a native of Livingston, Tennessee, and received her undergraduate degree in Agriculture/Animal Science from Tennessee Tech University. She and her husband, David, reside in Oak Ridge and attend Karns Church of Christ. They have two fur-babies – Penny, a 14-year old terrier mix, and Timmy, a 7 year old orange tabby.

Betsy Brent
With a background in customer relations and project management, Betsy ensures the day-to-day operations of West Hills Animal Hospital run smoothly. She holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and a Bachelor’s in Natural Resources Management from the University of Tennessee. Betsy and Dr. Brent have been married for almost 30 years and live in the West Hills area with their amazing son and beloved pets: Scout (a 16yr old Corgi-mix) and Nala & Thea (3yr old tuxedo cats). Betsy enjoys camping, gardening, and reading.
Meredith Goodman
Meredith Goodman began working as a part-time receptionist at West Hills Animal Hospital in 2018 – just one year after we opened for business. After graduating from the University of Tennessee with a BS degree in Child and Family Studies – Community Outreach in 2022, she stayed on full-time to lead the clinic’s client services role. She’s helped in the development of our processes & procedures and her organizational abilities & cheerful attitude have been instrumental in the success of West Hills Animal Hospital. She never hesitates to go the extra mile for our Pet Parents and she is invaluable to us all. She is a Knoxville native – graduating from Karns High School – and proud pet-mom to Eva, a devilish, white Khao Manee cat, and Oswald, a sweet little ginger boy.
